Total Abstinence Association Pledge
For the greater glory of God and the salvations of souls
in honour of the Sacred Thrist and the agony of Jesus
and the sorrowful heart of Mary
I promise to abstain from all intoxicating drinks during my life
and thus to discourage their use in others.
Pledge Prayer
Oh Lord Jesus Christ, who by
Your burning Thirst on the Cross
suffered for the intemperate, we
ask You by that Sacred Thirst and
Agony, to help people who are in
danger of offending You by the
abuse of alcoholic drink.
Grant that I may never, through
intemperance, do harm to myself
or others. Amen.
Prayer for Serenity
God, grant me the serenity to accept the
things I cannot change,
Courage to change the things I can,
and Wisdom to know the difference-
Living one day at a time;
Enjoying one moment at a time;
Accepting hardships as the pathway to peace;
Taking as He did, this sinful world as it is,
not as I would have it;
Trusting that He will make all things
right if I surrender to His will;
That I may be reasonably happy in this life
and supremely happy with Him forever in the next.
